aloo ki tikki


  • 4 big potatoes.

  • 1 onion( chopped).

  • 5-6 green chilies( chopped).

  • 1/2 cup cilantro leaves(chopped).

  • 2 teaspoons red chili powder.

  • 1 teaspoon onion seeds (kalongi).

  • 1 teaspoon zeera powder (Cumin powder).

  • 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger.

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice .

  • salt accordingly.


  • 1 cup white flour.

  • 1 teaspoon salt.

  • 2 tablespoons oil.

  • 1 pinch baking sodawater for making the batter.

Method of preparation:

  • Boil and peel the potatoes until soft.

  • Mash the potatoes and add the spices, onions, cilantro, chilis and add ginger and lemon juice.

  • Form the mixture into small shape round and press with soft hands.

  • Mix the white flour with the salt, baking soda, oil and water to make a thick batter.

  • Heat oil in a pan.

  • Dip the round into the batter and fry few minutes on each side, until it turn golden brown.
